Transcribe audio

It feels as though auto-transcription should be possible in the near future given that AI has advanced quite a ways since the original YouTube sync feature was rolled out. Is this a possibility? LingQ (forgive me for mentioning this!) let’s you upload audio and creates a synced transcript.

amazing suggestion! Supporting it fully

I’ve just added mp3 uploads with automatic transcriptions! For now it’s an experimental feature, still in beta, which premium users can enable and there’s a limit of 20Mb per file and 200Mb of total audio per account. Please check out the instructions here: NEW mp3 audio upload with auto-transcription!

(At some point I may also look into better options to sync YouTube videos too)

Absolute game-changer. Thank you so much! One question: I understand the 20MB limit for individual uploads. But is the 200 MB limit on how much you can have uploaded at any given time (i.e. a question of storage) or an absolute limit on how much you can upload, even if you subsequently delete the material?

The 200MB is at any given time. So if you permanently delete your texts with audio attached it will free up your storage allowance. (Note that to permanently delete texts you need to first delete it, then go to Library → My Texts → Browse: Deleted (link), select the text to delete, and click Actions → Permanently Delete Text)
