" You've Recalled 443 Words Today. Nice Work!"

" You’ve Recalled 443 Words Today. Nice Work!" word count is wrong. This wasn’t a problem yesterday, I don’t think.

The problem is I just did 25 words and the previous message said " You’ve Recalled 439 Words Today. Nice Work!" (25 <> 5). And I took a photo of the before count because the previous three cycles had seemed to be stuck on “439 words today”. And I think, but can’t prove, that I was actually higher than 439 before I started ;->. So I think I will quit now, before my progress goes lower! :->

Is it possible that some of the words you practiced in the last session were words you had already practiced earlier in the day? That count you’re looking at just looks at the count of unique words so if the same one comes up multiple times it will only contribute 1 to the count. On the other hand this count that shows in the tooltip that shows if you click on your streak will count these multiple practices separately even if they are the same word:

I realize this discrepancy could lead to confusion and perhaps the copy here could be improved to clarify exactly what these numbers represent.

Hmm. I don’t know, but I don’t think so. And when I compare the “words ready” I had 22439 (per the photo) and 22415 after (so 25 words). And I refreshed the screen before the photo and go get the 22415 … because the “words ready” count continues to be buggy.

What I have seen before, and see all the time, is that I am asking to practice 25 words and get something less than that. That, along with the “words ready” miscount, I reported before. I periodically do screen refreshes to reset the the count and keep my sanity. And, again, I did a refresh both before and after this last time.

If I understand what you are saying about “the words you practiced in the last session were words you had already practiced earlier in the day”, then (1) I don’t think I’ve experienced this before or, if I did, it was mild enough such that mixed in with the other bugs outstanding on the count, it had slipped by me before this. And (2) If the same word is presented to me twice in a day it should be counted TWICE. Else it is a bug – and a nasty one. It is not a “feature” if someone is trying to row forward and the program is “trying” to cheat them out of their effort by teleporting them backwards and playing other games. ;-/.

If my complaint doesn’t make sense to you, consider that I work REALLY hard to get over 500 words a day and, often, hundreds higher. I do that even if I am really tired or really don’t have the time. If the programs asks me to practice a word twice in one day it ought to give me consistent credit, or not count the word as practiced until I get it right (presuming that is why I might have gotten the same word twice). If that is how it is (mis) counting, that is discouraging.

On the brighter side, what an amazing program you’ve created! It boggles my mind to consider the complexity of it all! I used to do Unix kernel work when I was younger. That, race conditions and all, was simple, I suspect, compared to this!

I did do a rather larger amount of editing of definitions today than usual (mostly putting in mnemonics and straightening out some less than ideal definitions). And I did fly from S. America to US yesterday, costing me one hour, but not during a practice count. I shouldn’t think either of those would cause the discrepancy you are talking about, but I mention them in case they have any relevance to you.

Now I think I will take it easy and study General Relativity. LOL. 1/2

I did just 25 it gave me credit for 4. I did 25 more it gave me credit for ONE. How am I supposed to row to MY goal of 500 words reviewed today, with Readlang poking holes in the bottom of the boat? ;-/.

One explanation is the one I gave earlier that words are being repeated. Another would be that there’s a bug. Can you please check the count that shows when you click your streak at the top of the page since that should increase regardless of wherever words are being repeated.
