Your context doesn't include the word <whatever>

Minor issue: I have a word in my word list called “Tanto”. I edit this word so that it has three context sentences. However “Tanto” is only included in the third context sentence. Variations of this are used in the first two sentences, namely “tanta” and “tanti”.

When I click on save changes it throws a warning that my context doesn’t include the word “tanto”. It looks like it is only just checking the first context sentence. I click cancel - just check my sentences and then continue with saving.

As I say - it’s a minor niggle - but just adds an extra couple of user steps.

However…should I be creating separate words for tanti and tanta in this instance? Or will the mastery mode work ok with the context sentences that contain “tanti” and “tanta” even though the main words is “tanto”.

ReadLang’s approach is to enter each wordform as a separate item. There’s some obvious advantages (e.g. for irregular verbs) and obvious disadvantages (e.g. for languages with rich and mostly regular inflection; also for homonyms (unrelated meanings of the same word for)).

For the time being, I guess this is a rather hard-wired feature of ReadLang. Personally, I got used to it and consider it just as good as the “group all forms under one practice item” approach.

:100: Thanks for the helpful answer, Anna! That’s exactly right, the way Readlang works is that you need to store each word form as a separate item.
