I am learning Swedish. Every time I leave the text I am practicing or even go back a page words don’t stay highlighted/translated, although they are still being added to the word list. Is this intended and I am simply misunderstanding something, or is it a bug? I was about to switch from LingQ to Readlang permanently as a paying user, but this UI behavior is a deal breaker and just defeats the whole purpose of this approach to learning.
This is intended, if you are looking for more similar functionality to LingQ, I’d use linguaverbum.com
Please check out the Auto-Highlight feature to see if that works for you.
My preference is for a more distraction-free reading interface and this is reflected in Readlang’s design.
If I understand correctly, you’re using the free version, and you’re talking about words you’ve already clicked on to look up. If this is the case, and if I remember correctly, only your first twenty words show up underlined. This was the main reason I went over to paid at the time, although there are now other advantages. Once you subscribe to the paid version, all the words you’ve looked up will show up underlined.
I had never poked around in the “Aa” tab options. That Auto-Highlight feature is really great since it lets you use it as a memory check. So you can keep the flashcard review much cleaner, with fewer words you don’t really need to see. And just in general you can spend less time looking at flashcards because you can easily scan for not-yet-learned vocabulary right in your texts. Nice.
