Sorry, this isn’t supported at the moment.

If anyone else has felt the need for using search + filters in combination, please upvote this suggestion.

I’ve run into this several times and assumed I was doing something wrong or that my browser was acting up. I’d really like to be able to search within a filtered subset.

Some words, topics, and authors show up in far too many regular searches, especially beginner-level or AI-generated content. I want to narrow searches to intermediate- or advanced-level articles or books that are not AI-generated, and sometimes add a length limit on top of that. Without that, I’ve mostly stopped using search altogether. There’s just too much AI junk now.

This is now supported. Please refresh your Readlang browser tab.

On the word list, searching keeps whichever filter you have selected in the sidebar, and changing the filter keeps your search term, so the two narrow each other down.

In the library, search now works together with the filters, including the difficulty range, the length range and the Exclude AI option. So you can set Intermediate to Advanced, switch AI content to “Exclude AI”, add a length range, and then search within that.

Let me know if you still run into problems.
