Has anyone read books in their native language on Readlang for the purposes of creating Anki cards to help you review the information in it? I was thinking of trying to get a book loaded up, and then using the Anki Cloze delete export feature to send the cards to Anki after I was finished. Can anyone think of a reason why this wouldn’t work?

I haven’t done this but I think it should work. You can switch Readlang to monolingual mode to do this: To translate or not? Monolingual mode arrives - Readlang Blog
The explanations in your native language could even be useful for very difficult vocab in your first language. (I’ve wondered if it might be useful for first-language-English students reading Shakespeare for example)
One weird thing is that you’ll still need to set a “first language” which is different from your native language since Readlang will be doing translations in the background and saving them with the words in your word list, even if they aren’t getting display onscreen since you’re in monoligual mode.

One thing I’ve been thinking about lately is how digital reading, according to a lot of studies, isn’t as good for retaining information as reading a physical book. For reading in a 2nd language I think the pros of getting instant translations and being able to mine sentences and phrases more than makes up for it, but why shouldn’t reading in your native language not get a kind of upgrade? Turning key phrases or info into cards you can study efficiently later would be one way to do that.
