Spell check new words

I know this a problem with my speling…but is there anyway in the process of “adding a new word” that Readlang could inform the user if the translation service thinks the spelling is incorrect?

For example…if i try to add the word “diciasette” then Readlang translates it as “seventeen”. However the word should be “diciassette”. There is no indication I’ve spelt it incorrectly.

If I try the incorrect spelling on google translate it will either say something like “showing translation for: diciassette” or “Did you mean: diciassette”

I’m not asking for an auto replace of the incorrect spelling with the correct spelling - but maybe just a little hint, maybe a ! or ? symbol somewhere in the add word box. This would be enough to prompt the user to check the spelling.

Good idea! I’ll look into this.

I’ve added a “Did you mean…” link which will appear above the big “Add Word” button if Readlang thinks that you didn’t spell the word correctly. This only applies for words you typed in your learning language for now:

I haven’t tested it much so there’s a good chance it may fail sometimes. Please let me know what you think and please report back if it doesn’t behave as expected.

Steve - this is behaving brilliantly so far. I’m learning Italian and there’s a lot of double letters around at times!

It even appears to suggest the correct definite article if I get it wrong (which google translate doesn’t spot all of the time).

I’ve tried a good few spelling mistakes - missing letters, extra letters and it appears to be spotting the mistake 100% of the time and offering an alternative.

Pure class - thanks!
