Speak aloud voice In swedish

Hi,

How can I select the Swedish male voice available when you click on the ‘pronounce’ button in the Word list for reading aloud texts?

I’ve tried Chrome, Microsoft Edge, Firefox and Safari, but there is only an Alva voice in the settings.

I woudl really apreciate your help.

I’ve now added a bunch of new voices including a male one for Swedish. See here: Better voices in Readlang - Readlang Blog

For Edge, you need to click on Edge’s own three horizontal lines menu and select Read Aloud. Then you might need to close the text and open it again, although I’ve just tried it, and this wasn’ t necessary.

Readlang’s arrow will appear, and you should have a bigger choice of voices in Readlang’s Settings menu. You could also use Edge’s player at the top of the screen, but it’s a bit more involved, so I turn it off, and just use Readlang’s facility.

Incidentally, although as my general browser I use Chrome, when it comes to Read Aloud, I almost exclusively use Edge, for the range and quality of voices. An idea, I should say, I first got from Steve.

Thank you very much for taking the time to provide such a detailed explanation. I had already worked this out some time ago, but I appreciate your clarification.

May I ask which dictionary you use when studying Swedish?

To be honest, both my knowledge of and involvement with Swedish is very low key; I’m concentrating more on Dutch at the moment. I’m certainly not at a level to use a monolingual dictionary and use my go-to bilingual dictionary for everyday use - Wiktionary, English version, as in Readlang. This may not be very detailed, but it’s fine for my level.

In fact, for Swedish at the moment, I’m mostly doing it sitting in the park, offline, reading dialogues from YouTube, (no doubt AI-generated) and AI-generated stories produced through Readlang, on a special flashcard reader, sentence by sentence, more or less, with English translations (AI-generated of course) on the back. I only refer to these if necessary. I find I prefer this sentence by sentence approach to looking up individual words, although of course I do that too.
