(1) I had a point (1), which presented as a real bug. But I am looking more carefully at things, as the 3rd time around the bug didn’t present…as it did the 1st and 2nd times. But here is the rest of my post which is still relevant (although arguably not a “bug”)
(2) It looks like you just added the “clear” button. It’s okay to have that, but it absolutely shouldn’t be anywhere near the search button or you are going to have a lot of searches deleted by mistake. In my case, this would be catastrophic and I am, increasingly, carefully crafting long and arcane passages to compare and contrast things, or put together tongue twisters to practice. I suggest put it far to the right of the “import” button?
(3) I want to add source but input doesn’t support it. In my case I want to use the source button to group things together, so I can later review things together. But, regardless, why isn’t there any way to add source, to IMPORT it with a source tag, nor to edit the source? This is much needed, and I don’t understand why you might be opposed to it.
I think putting it the other side of the “import” button would be confusing since it’s too far from the thing that it affects. In general, it seems very common to have the clear button immediately after the search box (or even within the search box as a simple “x”, which I might move to).
If you are worried about this, I’d suggest hitting the Enter key (either on your physical or on-screen keyboard) instead of clicking the “Search” button, since they both do the same thing.
I’m not opposed to it as such and agree that it would be nice to add. The reasons it’s not there is that a) right now I store the source either as a link to a text within Readlang, or a URL if it came from the Web Reader, and so there doesn’t actually exist a free-text “source” field to put this data into (yet), and b) a desire to avoid cluttering and complicated the card editing UIs too much. One day I agree it would be nice to add this.
