Resetting the Dictionary

I tried changing the dictionary in Readlang, but found I preferred the default Readlang behavior. The question then became: how to change back to the default. I searched the internet and this forum and found nothing – but I did discover how to do this. So, in case anyone else wants to know, just do the following:

  • go to Settings (https://readlang.com/settings
  • scroll down to the “Custom … Dictionary” – in my case it’s the Custom Russian Dictionary
  • clear out the URL field
  • then click “Save this dictionary”

You should be able to click the “Reset to default” button too. Does this not work for you?

Thanks. I did try that, but as long as there was a URL from before there, it kept putting it back in.

The default Russian dictionary URL at the moment is https://en.openrussian.org/?search={{query}}, so when you click “Reset to default” this is the one that should appear there.

And I’m so glad OpenRussian.org is up and running again. It was down quite a while since Sunday. A day or two before that it was down for awhile as well.

Once again today, OpenRussian is down. It has long been my favorite Russian dictionary. However, they never respond to their email about anything - least of all downtime.
