Readlang vs new competition

Few weeks back, somewhat frustrated with some quicks of Readlang I tried a couple of alternatives that are not Lingq (Lingo Champion and Lingua Verbum). Both options at the moment have “vibe coded” feeling to them, they do have some interesting design choices. While in the end I decided to stick with Readlang, there were several features that I very much appreciated:

  • Better support for books and video/audio content (Lingo Champion)
  • More ways to do practice (Lingua Verbum)
  • Predefined follow-up steps for AI (such as Break down grammar)
  • More content options (such as automatic video and podcast importing)

Would be nice to have some of those features also implemented in Readlang.

Here are the main features I would like to see.

  • Ability to import video from mobile.(the current browser extension option works fantastic for YouTube, but I’d like to be able to import from my mobile device.)
  • A way to listen and read a transcript of audio such as podcasts without having to download the files to my device.
