Please put Readlang Story Bot and other AI texts under its own tab

The overwhelming proliferation of readlang story bot texts is flooding out genuine, human written texts and essays. I do recognize the Readlang story bot as a temporary crutch, a temporary aid for beginners and intermediate students. It is a useful tool when starting out. While the readbot does quickly provide a text of interest at a level desired by the creator with a limited word count, it is no subsitute for the nuanced writing of humans with our unique styles and manners of talking and writing. After reading several readbot stories, it becomes mind-numbling boring. There is no soul or inspiration behind the story. No voice. No personality. It sounds like every crap essay uploaded by students to their professors using some AI bot. Heck, this plea is obviously human written. No AI has this passion, and it´s use of punctuation and grammar is much better. This diatribe is too wordy, but I don´t care. Heck, I can’t even type well. I am not some professional editor using bland or faddish corporate words or jargon or some other crap when writing this, which is what bot-generated texts sound like. So, imagine my constant disappointment when I go to find a good text that that some other human student has found interesting and decided to share, but I it very dificult to find because there are hundeds of uploads of boring bot written drivel that sound like some artificial flowery description on the back of a cheap wine bottle or a false description of some house property. I have pretty much stopped using the uploaded public text tab. Which is quite a loss for me. I like seeing what other students have encountered and found interested. I am learning Spanish, and I greatly enjoy finding uploaded public texts from news, essays, etc written by humans that have a genuine point of view, a distinct manner of speaking, with all of a humans flaws ,etc. So, for all my complaining and whining, there is a simple solution. Whenever somebody generates a readland story bot text, please put it under its own separate tab, and limit public texts loads to those created by humans. Also, please include a new check box when uploading a text to say “Generated by an AI” so other texts created by ChatGPT, Perplexity, whatever, also will go under the AI Bot list of texts.

Lastly, I am deeply grateful to Readlang, and the excellent resource it has become for me to learn and acquire vocabulary in Spanish. I am passionate about reading and learning. I use Readlang every single day, now for more than 280 days straight, with over 4000 words or phrases being learned/studied. So I am not knocking Readlang or its toolset that includes the AI bot. I understand the story bot’s usefulness for many students, but I think it should be like all tools, be recoginzed for its limitations, and be put in its proper place, and not to be lumped in with human written stories or texts.

No AI was used anywhere in this request. All mistakes are mine.

Wow, this request is very long indeed. But long story short, I also think that a filter for AI-generated texts would be a nice feature to add, although not an entirely new tab.

I think it would be nice to have a filter for AI stories.

I too think that filtering out ai stories in different tab/shelf/whatever oder just giving it an ai-tag would be a very good idea.

you know there are tools these days that can summarize long texts like this… (sorry, I couldn’t resist!)

I’ve just added a filter to exclude AI content: Filter out Story Bot AI - #4 by Steve

I’ve never seen a developer work as fast as Steve does hah. Thanks, Steve.

Thanks a million, Steve. You´re the best! I didn´t really expect such a quick response. Thank you for creating a checkbox for AI-generated articles, and the AI filter option on the public text page. I´d buy you a beer or two if I knew how to send you the money! Message me your Venmo!

The quip about tools to summarize long texts made me laugh out loud! But my long request got yours and a few others attention, right?

And since you “asked”, here is an AI summary of my diatribe that is so polite (and dull). With all the give-away “—” symbols that only AI bots use.

"I’m frustrated by the overwhelming number of Readlang story bot texts flooding the public uploads. While the story bot is useful for beginners needing level-appropriate material, its output lacks the nuance, personality, and inspiration of real human writing. After a few AI-generated stories, I find them repetitive and lifeless—nothing like the authentic, imperfect, and engaging texts shared by fellow learners.

It’s become so hard to find genuine, human-written content that I’ve mostly stopped using the public text tab, which is a real loss for me. Discovering what others have found interesting—news, essays, stories with a true point of view—was one of the best parts of Readlang.

My suggestion: please create a separate tab for AI-generated texts and require a checkbox on uploads to indicate if a text was created by an AI. Let’s keep the main public area for content written by real people.

I’m grateful for Readlang—it’s been invaluable for my Spanish learning. The story bot is a helpful tool, but it shouldn’t be mixed with human-written texts. Thanks for considering this change. No AI was used in writing this post—any mistakes are mine!"
