Optional “Continue Reading” Button?

First, I would like to extend a warm greeting to all active members of the Readlang community and offer my sincere congratulations to Steve for creating and continuously refining this invaluable platform. After neglecting my language studies for several years, I returned to Readlang a few months ago and have since made remarkable progress. By uploading multiple short texts on topics related to the arts and sciences—rather than fiction—I can devote several hours to reading while methodically reinforcing my vocabulary.

One of Readlang’s greatest strengths is its minimalist design, which provides a distraction-free experience reminiscent of paging through a physical book. The ability to adjust font size and justification further enhances readability, allowing users to immerse themselves in the material with minimal strain. Beyond the interface, the platform’s smooth navigation and progress-tracking features make extended reading sessions both productive and enjoyable, as there is seldom a need to leave the reading screen.

To elevate this already impressive user experience, I would like to suggest adding an optional “Continue Reading” button that appears in the same place as the existing navigation. When readers finish a text, this button could seamlessly advance them to the next text—whether it be the following item in a queue or the next unread passage—without forcing a return to the main list. Such a feature would maintain the fluid, book-like atmosphere I have grown to appreciate, yet it could be toggled off for those who prefer selecting texts manually. I hope this suggestion resonates with other users, and I thank you for considering it.

What kind words - and very deserving of Steve and his efforts to make Readlang such a wonderful resource for language learners.

Thanks very much for your kind words @Anto_Lloveras and @rtodaro and welcome to the forum!

I’ve just added a link to the next text which shows only if you have a text available in your My Texts reading queue. It’s not at the bottom right like the next page button since I thought that readers would want to know the title of the text before clicking on it.

Thanks for the next-button, Steve ! Let me clarify why a fixed position appealed to me: I typically read about twenty short texts in a row, and it’s not the reading itself that’s tiring, but the constant cursor adjustments. Keeping it in one spot creates a more fluid experience, though I recognize such matters are subjective and each user has their own interface preferences. Best mood !

Simple but effective enhancement - useful to know the name of the next text. Thanks!

I totally agree with what you wrote here. I recently move from Lingq to Readlang because I appreciate its simplicity and the distraction limited experience. The depth of the phrase look ups and explanations are helping me to stay in reading mode instead of getting distracted with internet searching or lost in dictionary entries as used to happen when I tried other methods in the past.

Thanks Steve for implementing such a quick fix for this.
