I just wanted to say that I’ve been using Readlang for just a couple of days, and I’m blown away by how great it is.
The lack of bloated features make it run smoothly with no technical issues, and the clean interface makes it approachable. My motivation had been suffering lately, and I realize it’s because of technical problems and bloat I had faced with other services.
The lack of gamification actually motivates me to keep going as I feel less pressure to log on just to meet some numerical target. I like the modest streak tracker because I only need to do a little bit to keep it going and it seems to not matter if I meet the goal using only one language, which is great when my available study time is different every day (usually 1-2 hours but some days only 15-30 minutes).
I especially love how I can review vocabulary using either passive or active recall. This is tremendously useful as I want to learn to recognize some words, but actively use other words. I don’t need to choose whether to review all passively or actively.
Adding clear and succinct definitions is very easy with the embedded AI, and the context explanations are excellent.
This is exactly what I needed as an advanced-level learner of French and Japanese, and it’s a good complement to Anki and Clozemaster. Readlang is rekindling my love of French and Japanese.
Well done @Steve.
