It seems that the spaces at the end of the search phrase are not being trimmed.
For example, compare results for the search phrases “Arthur Conan Doyle” and “Arthur Conan Doyle ” (here with an extra space at the end)

Thanks for reporting! The search functionality leaves a lot to be desired! I’ll fix this, although I’m away at the moment so it may take a couple of weeks.

This specific issue with whitespace is now fixed. Still a lot of room for improvement with search though.
