Make word list more effective

Hello,

First, really great product so big thanks for creating it. One of the main change I’d like to see relates to the word list.

When I save a verb, for instance, I would like to have the infinitive form automatically added in the context, along with other forms such as the past particle and preterit form. These are the things that I need to learn along with the meaning of the verb. For instance, if I save “gelernt” I would like to have “Lernen” as the infinitive form displayed along with some basic conjugation, etc.

The same way with nouns, it’d be great to have the gender (der, die, das) automatically added along with singular and plural form.

At the moment, my workaround is to export the word list google sheets then use Gemini to add the information that I need to truly learn the verbs and nouns I pick up from the readings.

Thanks!

I have a similar problem! It’s not easy to manually track all the grammatical forms. I’ve been using the synonym fields to manually add different forms, but that’s time-consuming and inconsistent.

Unfortunately, I think automatic morphological analysis is probably too complex for Readlang to implement well. Languages like German have many patterns and exceptions and it would be really difficult to get right consistently.

But even some basic improvements would help a lot - like being able to manually add word forms that get highlighted in texts, or consolidating related entries in the word list. That way we could at least organize the forms we do find without needing external tools.

Your suggestion about automatic gender and plural detection for nouns would be amazing, but realistically it seems like a huge technical challenge for a platform like this.
