Please please please change the way flashcards become due, so that at the beginning of the day you can see how many cards will be due for the whole day. Right now they seem to pop up on a rolling basis depending on the exact minute of the day I last reviewed them, it drives me nuts to catch up on my cards and then later in the day see that I have dozens or hundred more that have come due. It’s demotivating because it makes the flashcards feel like this endless Sisyphean task instead of getting the satisfaction of truly finishing them for the day. It also means that I’m not actually reviewing the most relevant/important cards of the day first. Sorting by relevance is a great design feature but weakened by the way the scheduling works.

I agree with you and your reasoning. I have suggested this in the past too and would love to see it implemented.
This is now implemented. Cards should now become due at the start of your day rather than at the exact minute their interval runs out, so everything scheduled for today is in the deck from the moment the day begins and you can see the whole day’s count upfront. It also means relevance sorting now works across the full day’s set, so you do get the most relevant cards first.
