Hi, Is there a way to get an audio version of the text / stories? In addition to reading the texts / stories I’d like to listen to them too.
Yes, Readlang has a Read Aloud feature, but the availability, quality and choice of voices depend on what browser you are using. In Chrome, for example, only some languages are catered for, the voices aren’t great, and if you’re using a mobile device, it’s very hit or miss.
The best voices, and the biggest selection, are on the Edge browser, which I use exclusively for Readlang, making extensive use of this feature, mainly on Android.
I don’t know about other platforms, but if you’re using the Edge app on Android, you’ll need to enable the Read aloud feature in Edge’s own settings menu. Click on the three horizontal lines at the top right, next to the Copilot symbol, this will open Edge’s menu. Near the bottom of the menu you’ll see the Read Aloud icon. Click on that, but close the Edge player that appears at the top of the page - using Readlang’s own Read aloud feature involves much less hassle.
You’ll probably need to close the text in Readlang, and then open it again. Readlang’s own Play button should now have appeared at the bottom of the page. Open the AA page in the sidebar and select the voice you want to listen to.
Now I’m off to listen to my Spanish ‘audio book’ in Readlang. ![]()
@WarsawWill_RandomIde thank you for this information. Thinking about this more, is there any way I can download the text in its entirety from Readlang? I ask because if I do that, I can then copy/paste the text into an app like Narrly https://www.narrly.app/ – which can then read the text aloud to me.
I take the subway to and from work so I don’t have internet access all the time. Otherwise, with the internet, Readlang’s read-aloud feature works just fine.
That I can’t answer, I’m just an ordinary user. I presume you’re talking about the public texts, as in your other post, in which case I doubt it, but you’ll probably have to wait for Steve, the creator and organiser of this wonderful platform, to give you a definitive answer. Or for some technical expert to give you a workaround.
On a computer it strikes me as effective to click+drag and copy/paste a text out if you really want it. I’d just suggest you go to the Aa tab and shrink the font as much as you can in order to minimize how many pages there are to copy. You’d probably want something like Notepad to copy it into.
You could copy it from the Edit tab in the reader. At least you can search and edit the whole text there, so I guess copying should also work.
Hi. You can certainly copy from the Edit page, I do it almost every day (when deleting a version with audio, for example), and as you can Select All, which only affects the text in the box, it’s dead easy.
But I think he’s talking about the public texts, where you have no access to the Edit page.
FYI: although it’s not really supported I mentioned a workaround to download the whole text of a public text where you don’t have access to the Edit tab here: How To Download Text - #2 by Steve
Yeah i’m talking about texts like these Readlang
