The start button is gone. So no sound is possible while reading. What to do?
Sorry about this, and thanks for reporting it. Read Aloud uses the text-to-speech voices installed on your device, and the play button was hidden when your device had no voice for the language you’re reading.
I’ve just released an update so the Read Aloud play button now stays visible in that situation if there are high quality server-generated voices available (which is a Premium Plus only feature). If you press it and your device has no voice for that language, the voice picker opens and tells you so. From there you have two options:
- Install a voice for that language on your device (usually in your operating system’s language or speech settings), then refresh your Readlang browser tab.
- Use the high quality voices, which work on any device and are included in Readlang Plus.
If the button is still missing, please let me know which language you’re reading and which device and browser you’re using.
