Translation Behavior

  • Translations On: when clicking on a word or phrase, it will be highlighted and a translation will appear above it

  • Merge: If you click a word adjacent to a word which is highlighted, they will automatically merge

On Deselect Word/Phrase

  • Delete Flashcard: If you click a highlighted word/phrase, the translation will briefly appear with a strikethrough style before it is unhighlighted, and the word (or just this context if there are multiple contexts) will be deleted from your Word List
  • Keep Flashcard: If you click a highlighted word/phrase, it will become unhighlighted, but will remain in your Word List

Review Summary Buttons

  • Show: a divider line and (?) button will show up roughly every 300 words through the text. If you click on these (?) buttons, an AI generated summary of the past section will be shown
  • Hide: don’t interperse these dividers and buttons throughout the text

Auto-Highlight Words

  • None: Don’t auto highlight words
  • Ready To Learn: Auto highlight words which Readlang’s spaced repetition system considers that you may not remember, and hence are “ready to learn” at the moment
  • All Your Words: Auto highlight all words which are in your Word List wherever they appear in the texts you read

Show Streak In Topbar

Always Show: Always show your daily streak progress in the title bar
Show Until Complete Show your daily streak progress in the title bar until you’ve reached your daily goal
Never Show: Never show your daily streak progress in the reader page title bar (it will still appear at the top of the dashboard outside of the reading interface)

Hi Steve,

You seem to have missed out what I think is one of your best features - Change Appearance - Sentence Breaks (this option starts each sentence on a new line). This works particularly well with the new audio transcriptions, making the “blocks of text” much more readable. I used to spend some time formatting texts, but I find that this feature makes this largely unnecessary. Thanks for that.

Good catch! Thanks. I’ve just added it. “Sentence Breaks” was a very early feature request from over 10 years ago by @mithradates

Hi Steve,

I just have a question about the Auto-highlight words, this option doesn’t appear with Chinese texts, including the AI genereated and the public text, but I can use it for korean and Japanese. Is it a bug, or an issue from the text or the language?

Thank you in advance

I’m surprised to hear it works for you with Japanese.

Korean gets treated like most other languages because words are delimited by spacing. So Korean gets to have the “Chat” tab for example.

So I guess it works because the texts I used have words spaced. It is working for Thai too in this condition. I try to separate words in my text in chinese and it works.

Sorry but this Auto Highlight feature is not available for any languages which don’t use spaces to mark word boundaries. (There was a bug which was causing it to show up sometimes when it shouldn’t but that’s now been fixed)
