Feature Request - SRT File Support for YouTube Learning

Hi Steve,

First, thank you for creating such a powerful tool for language learners! I use Readlang daily to study languages through YouTube videos, but there’s one workflow pain point I’d love to see improved.

Currently, I manually sync transcripts with video timestamps when using YouTube content. While this works, it’s time-consuming – especially for longer videos. Many of us already use AI tools (like Whisper) or websites to auto-generate .SRT subtitle files. Would it be possible for Readlang to add an .SRT file import feature?

This would allow users to:
:one: Upload machine-generated subtitles
:two: Skip the manual timestamp alignment
:three: Directly dive into vocabulary mining and sentence breakdowns

The .SRT format is widely supported by transcription tools, and this integration could save users hours of prep time. I’d gladly help beta-test this feature if needed!

Keep up the great work – looking forward to your thoughts!

Best,
Asa Cullen

I agree with this 100%. It’s funny I mentioned SRT import a couple hours before this was added, so I am glad it is a clear feature request here that everyone can find and vote on!
