Feature Request: Popup Menu for Text Selection in Explain Section

Dear Steve,

I have a suggestion that I believe could enhance the user experience significantly, particularly in the Explain section of your platform.

Currently, adding translations, notes, or contextual information to a word or phrase often requires manual copying and pasting, which can become tedious during extended usage. To streamline this process, I propose adding a popup menu that appears when text is selected in the Explain section.

This popup menu could include the following options:

  1. Add to Translation
  2. Add to Notes
  3. Add to Context

By implementing this feature, users could perform these actions seamlessly without having to switch back and forth or manually input data, greatly improving efficiency and usability.

Thank you for considering this suggestion. Please let me know if I can clarify or elaborate further on this idea.

Best regards,
Ali

@Steve, Do you think this feature aligns with the platform’s development priorities, and would it be feasible to implement in the near future?

Sorry for not responding. It’s not a bad idea but don’t want to make any promises right now.

A version of “Add to Translation” kinda exists at the moment but only if your first language is English and the explanations are shown in English. In that case the translations should be converted into buttons which add the translation when clicked. But for other languages and for adding to Notes/Context I can see the utility.

No worries, thanks for getting back to me! I was aware that the “Add to Translation” feature already exists for English as the primary language. My thought was more about extending it to other languages and adding functionality for Notes/Context, as I think it could be really helpful in those cases. I completely understand if it’s not a priority right now, but I’d really appreciate it if you could consider implementing this feature.
