Right now, when we add context, the AI explains it, which is useful. And from what I understand, the context should be an example sentence. However, we have to enter the context manually if it’s not a word imported with readlang. My suggestion is, if possible, for the AI to be able to add an example sentence to the context for the user. This would allow users to practice with questions based on the example sentence, making their review more effective and lasting. Yes, we can already do this by manually entering the context, but as I said, I think it would be beneficial if the AI could generate an example sentence for us.
There is a way, and I use it every day: Ask AI about this Word and Add Context.
1. When editing a card, use the Ask AI function to generate a sentence using the “Spanish” word or whatever language.
2. Click Add context and drag (or copy/paste) the new sample sentence to the context field. A second sentence will now show up as a card variant in the flash card review.
I have experimented with this a lot and use it with every new word or phrase.
My most basic prompt is:
Please provide a sentence using the Spanish word utilizing Latin America grammar using 15 words or less.
I specify Latin American grammar because Spain Spanish is not my target grammar.
The AI will vary its response, use too many words in a sentence, add polite introductions, or sometimes explain the grammar. It varies every time unless you get highly specift.
So my current prompt I use now is much more detailed. I want only two sentences of about 15 words with an asterisk in between them so I can tell in the card review that it is two different sentences in one card (more efficient use of a card that I prefer).
Please provide two different sentences using the Spanish word (OK to use masculine or feminine gender or change plurality if appropriate) utilizing Latin America grammar using 15 words or less. Don´t put numbers in front of the sentences. And don’t put any paragraph spaces between the two sentences. Instead, put 3 asterisks between the two. Don’t make any comment or polite introduction.
Give them a try. Hope this helps!
In my case I’m not able to see the option ‘ask ai about word’ when I’m editing a card. I don’t know why but maybe it’s because that I have 6 dollar monthly subscription. Not the highest one.
I’m on the standard premium subscription (not the higher premium plus package), and I have it, accessible in three ways. From the Explain tab, from the Edit Word card, and via the Practice cards.
One thought is that it might only appear after you’ve used the Explain feature.
You probably need to switch on this feature from the “Experimental Features” section of the Settings page.
That was the problem, thank you,
