I’m having a lot of French AI explanations be lacking, skipping important content
(Example was that it just skipped that novempre is an archaic for of novembre)
It often feels useless and I have to swap to English for decent information on meanings, but I feel the point should be to be able to keep it in the target language.
The English is always better at explaining it, and it gotten worse - which is frustrating and I’ve started to use other sources for these now; which feels bad.
Is it possible that you opted in to the experimental betterAIModel mode within the past couple of weeks? As I explained on the blog and on the Settings page this feature was being offered to regular premium users on a temporary basis while I was testing it but that my plan was to put it within a more expensive plan. In the end I’ve now launched the Premium Plus plan for $15 / month or $120 / year. If you want to upgrade you can do it here: Readlang, and if you do, please be sure to check that the “Better AI Model” is checked on the Settings page after upgrading.
If you never activated the betterAIModel experimental feature, then the explanations should be working just as they always have, and certainly haven’t been “dumbed down”.
That makes sense. Most AI models are better at English than other languages, and I wouldn’t be surprised if the improvement when upgrading to the better AI model is more significant for languages other than English.
