Different accents

is it possible to have the text be read aloud with different accents? For example, it would be great to switch to a cuban accent or select male/ female. Please LMK if it is available and i have missed it!

The Read Aloud voices depend on the browser you use. The best quality and selection of voices seems to be on Edge, which I use exclusively for Readlang. This has about a dozen different Spanish voices, including Cuban, both male and female.

Note that if you use the Edge app in Android, you’ll need to enable Read Aloud in Edge’s own menu. Reload the text, and Readlang’s Read Aloud button should appear. Open the AA page in the sidebar and select the voice from the list at the bottom of the page.

@WarsawWill_RandomIde Can you specify where in the settings Read Aloud should be activated for Edge on Android?

I can only activate it directly in the menu, but this adds an overlay on the whole site which makes Readlang’s menu unusable and I don’t get the Readlang specific button, even when reloading

EDIT It’s working now! I had to close and reopen the text instead of just reloading the page.

EDIT 2 Hmm, but it’s gone again when I add the site to my home screen… Is this just not possible?

Hi. You seem to have basically worked it out for yourself. What seems to happen is that once you’ve opened it in the Edge menu, exited the text and reopened it, the Readlang button stays for that session. In other words, if you switch to texts in another language, the button will still be there. But every time I start a new session I generally have go through the whole procedure again - opening Read Aloud in the Edge menu, closing the text, and then reopening it.

As for your Edit 2, I’m not quite sure what you mean. I have the Edge app on my Samsung tablet’s home page (but not specifically the Readlang page), and it works fine, except that, as I just said, you have to repeat the procedure for every new session. But as it only takes a couple of seconds it doesn’t bother me.
