I searched the forum a bit but couldn’t figure out if this behavior is covered somewhere. It seems to me that when I click on a word while reading a text, that action suggests I don’t know the word well and its SRS progress for flashcards should be reset as if it were new. As it is, sometimes when I’m reading an article, I click on a word but then don’t get quizzed on it anytime soon (which I actually want to be, since I didn’t know it well). The SRS thought I already knew it well, which maybe I did at one point but now it’s been too long. Any way to set this behavior?

Another, more general / flexible, way to handle this would be if the “actions” available for checked words (in the words tab when reading a text) could include “reset progress”. Then after reading a text, I could simply check all the words and reset their progress.

Yes, I can imagine using an option that let me reset all progress on all words from one text, let’s say.
Something awkward when reviewing flashcards is when it draws a word I drilled once many months ago. If I feel like I don’t really know the word, I feel incentivized to deliberately answer the question incorrectly so that I don’t go a year without seeing it again. That’s a little odd.

This is now live, working the way you originally described. Clicking a word you’ve already saved now counts the same as pressing “I forgot” in a flashcard session: the interval resets to 0 and the word comes straight back into the ready-to-test pile, so you’ll be quizzed on it soon rather than in a year. Words you’ve saved but never practised yet are unaffected, since there’s no schedule to reset.

Hi Steve, how does this work with the auto-highlight “All Your Words” mode [and actually “Ready to Learn” too]? Normally clicking a word to then click “I remembered” is a way to say that actually we did know the word, and avoid a flashcard rep. But if opening the dialog already means “I forgot” then the two things probably don’t cancel out in effect.

@M_C I would like to know as well, as I also use the auto highlight feature. I also often click on a word even if I know it, in order to add another context sentence.

This is very helpful, thanks again. I don’t know how hard an extra tweak would be, but it would be great if it showed the word in the new context the next time it presented the flashcard. As of now, it generally shows the re-newed word in some older context, and I then have to open up the card and scroll through the contexts to get to the one I just added.
They don’t cancel out since opening that popup doesn’t affect anything. It only looks the word up and shows it to you. Nothing about the schedule changes unless you press a button, and “I remembered” still records a successful recall exactly as it did before.
The reset to 0 only happens when a click goes through the normal translate flow, which is the case when the word isn’t already highlighted on the page.
