Characters being altered by Readlang (Malayalam)

Something I’ve noticed happening sometimes with Readlang is that
when I load a certain Malayalam website, some of the characters are altered.

In malayalam, there are certain syllable final characters ൾ ൽ ർ called chillus.
They each have a hook on the right hand side.
In the screenshot, the chillus are replaced by their syllable initial equivalents, and are followed by a chandrakkala ്.

Why is this happening?

These can’t be typos on the original newspaper, since when I open an private tab (where extensions don’t work), the words are written correctly.

I’m using the Brave browser. This issue doesn’t occur on Manorama, another Malayalam news-site.

Turns out the Readlang Web Reader wasn’t handling “zero width joiner” characters correctly in Malayalam. I’ve just fixed this so please give it another try.
