Awesome work Steve. That’s a lot in one month. Quick question, the new open ai translations that replace Google translate only work if you set English as your first language or it works for all? When I read in English I usually put Spanish as my first language because it’s a bit better than my English.

I’m gathering feedback for English first but will then try it for other languages.

Ok fair enough. I do notice a change in the translations when I set Spanish as my first language when I tick the openai box and the translation changes when I untick and translate the word/phrase again. I found that it’s much better with the AI.

Sorry, I got a bit confused since I’m also running an AB test offering these OpenAI translations to new users only with first language English. But if you click the contextTranslations checkbox to enable them in the settings then it will apply to all language pairs.

Hey @Steve Great Work. Wondering if you’ve switched 3.5 turbo to 4o mini for the AI features yet (since it’s cheaper and better)

Yep, already done! One noticeable change is that the explanations now often seem to contain markdown notation which I need to work on rendering more appropriately. Other than that I haven’t noticed a huge difference, but hopefully it’s slightly more accurate.

If you post changelogs, I’ll read 'em!

I think with the more popular languages it’s more accurate but you really notice the difference with 3.5 and 4 with the less popular and obscure ones like Albanian for example. Makes a big difference.

Is it possible to add audio to a text ? i.e a corresponding mp3 to a text ?

Hi Steve, I was wondering if it’s possible to get the AI translation on the web reader as well?

The context translations have been available in the web reader for over a week now. I’d forgotten to update the text on the Settings page so I’ve just updated it.
