This has just started happening today, and I refreshed to make sure I wasn’t using an old version. When I go to the next page, the last 3 lines of the previous page appear at the top, and the sentence I was just reading at the bottom of the previous page is now several lines down from the top. (See screenshots for example)
This makes it very difficult to read smoothly, as I keep having to search for my last sentence. This used to happen occasionally when I highlighted something on the last line, but now it’s happening consistently with every page. I don’t think I can continue reading while this behavior is happening – it’s really hard to keep focused when the lines aren’t where they should be. Please take a look?
(What might help in the meantime is slightly adjusting either browser window size, font size or line height. I’m not completely sure that this will work but it could be worth a try.)
Thanks for looking into it! I tried all of the possible adjustments, but nothing resolved the problem.
Oddly, when I use it on my iPhone, I don’t have any issues. It’s only happening on desktop (Chrome on Mac), and I haven’t changed any settings that are likely to have caused it. Looking forward to a resolution!
I’ve just investigated this and found that it was happening in recent versions of Firefox. I’ve just pushed an update which should fix it, so please give it another try and let me know if this fix works for you or not.
I’m using Chrome (which I recall had an update sometime in the last week, in case that helps), and I’m still having the problem.
Besides the 3 lines jumping, the text is also getting cut off at the bottom by the bottom bar, or sometimes even overlaps the bar so the buttons are inaccessible. (See screenshot #3)
Like @Jose_Carlos said, this behavior seems to have just started out of nowhere. I’ve been reading the same book for a couple of weeks, and it was okay one day, then started doing this the next. I guess it’s been about 4 days now with no change.
Thanks again in advance for trying to resolve this!
Edited to clarify: I’m using normal desktop screen dimensions. For the screenshots, I only selected the text on the left of the screen, hence the vertical-looking screenshots.
Sorry about that. I’ve just updated to the latest version of Chrome and can confirm it was happening for me too. I’ve just pushed an update that fixes it.
(This bug was being caused by a slight zoom I was applying to the whole page on larger browser window sizes so that the font and UI elements didn’t appear too small. This used to work well but it seems that with recent browser updates my code to determine which word is the last word to appear on the page is no longer working correctly, so for now this zoom is disabled.)
Thank you! The sidebar on the right has much smaller text now, but that’s preferable to the original problem. The lines are no longer jumping around and it’s much easier to read now. Thanks again.
I am having this exact issue and it also began out of nowhere and has not stopped. I do not experience it on my desktop using chrome, but I experience it on my phone when using chrome and brave. My main concern with it would be creating an inaccurate word count because I am not going to reread the repeating portions.
Thanks for reporting this! Turns out I forgot to disable the page zoom for large mobile devices. I’ve done this now which should fix the issue, but with the side effect that all text and UI elements have shrunk slightly and now may feel a bit too small.
I’ve increased the size a bit on both mobile (except for very small screens) and medium to large desktop screen sizes. So it should similar to how it was before the recent fixes.
