Brag, Share, Breakthrough, Etc

I’m interested in how people in the readlang community are using readlang. I’m sure there are plenty of people way beyond me, but I’m going to “brag” a little, if only because it motives me to have someone to share my effort with (hope that is okay and taken in the spirit intended).

So, today I used Blitz with a timer. Actually I did three 15 minute timed segments, so I could stretch in between. I just reviewed 575 words and phrases in 45 minutes giving me an average review time of just under 4.7 seconds per correct match. ;-).

That’s especially motivating for me because after yesterday, when I took probably 7 hours to review only 500 words, without timing, I was feeling a little bit worn out, and I thinking of slacking off going forward (because I need to get back to reading and socializing…in Spanish, not just Blitzing).

But now I now that I should be able to keep my 500 word review target per day and do it all in less than an hour, even allowing for some new phrases, if I make a game of it, and accept more “mistakes”, by racing my timer (and I need to get better at accepting my mistakes if I am going to go forward with speaking)! So, I thought I would share that as an idea:

Time yourself! And it might not be a bad feature to include in Blitz mode, either! ;->

I’d honestly like to hear YOUR story. Everyone is a winner, with ReadLang and a little perseverance! ;->

Thanks for sharing!

I normally just do one or two sessions of flashcards per day, and don’t tend to worry about my ever growing collection of words to review (13268 right now). Today you inspired me to try two 15 min timed sessions instead:

  1. Blitz mode: reviewed 150 cards. Average of 6 seconds per card.
  2. Mastery mode: reviewed 53 cards. Average of 17 seconds per card.

It was a nice experience and I’ll do this again, although the bulk of my Readlang time will continue to be spent reading rather than practicing flashcards.

7 hours of flashcards in a single day sounds intense!
