Filter words from chat conversations in the word list and for practice

I would really like to be able to filter for words from chat conversations in the word list and for practices.

Currently words from the chat get saved without a source, so they can’t be filtered in the word list and can’t be chosen for practice (please let me know if I overlooked something).

Ideally I would love a link to the chat conversation for each word and a “Chat” filter for the word list and practice. But a workaround could also be to filter for words without a source (at least for me since all my other words have a source assigned).

It’s probably a little stupid, but this makes me not want to use the chat since I don’t like that my words get saved in the void :see_no_evil_monkey: But I would like to use it more, since writing is one of my weaker skills, so it would be awesome to be able to manage these words better.

Thanks for the suggestion.

For the record, words saved from the chat do get a source. There are actually two: Chat (Ami) for words you look up in Ami’s messages, and Chat (my writing) for words from your own text. Each one shows up as a filter in the Word List and as a practice source once it has 6 or more words, so if you’ve only saved a few words from the chat so far, that’s probably why you didn’t see them.

I’ve kept them separate on purpose since reading is normally easier than writing. Words you didn’t understand in Ami’s messages therefore tend to be at a higher level and the ones generated from mistakes you made while writing might be at a lower level, so you may want to practise them differently. (e.g. you might want to practice your mistakes made while writing using Mastery mode where it gets you to type out the whole word/phrase)

I’ve also just made a couple of improvements: in the Word List, chat words now link back to the conversation they came from, and when you filter by a source, each word shows its example sentence from that source. Please refresh your Readlang browser tab to get the update.

Please let me know if you still can’t find them.

Ahhhh, that makes sense! I didn’t test with more than 6 words.

I’m sorry for bothering you :see_no_evil_monkey: That’s actually perfect with the two lists and thanks so much for even more improvements!

Everything works perfectly and I’m having fun with the chat :slightly_smiling_face:

Just a tiny thing: on my phone (Firefox on Android) the columns for the source names are so narrow that they only show a few characters. That’s no issue for most sources but the two chat sources can’t be distinguished.
